André Fouad

André Fouad is an award-winning poet and a trained journalist. He studied at École Supérieure de Journalisme et de Communication and at the French Institute in Haiti. André also holds a degree in pedagogy of the French Language. André worked as a host/editor for the cultural section of Haiti’s State-owned television station – TNH (Télévision Nationale d’Haiti) from 1998 to 2001. He also contributed to the oldest Haitian daily Le Nouvelliste, and Recreation Magazine (Stars Magazine) from 1992 to 2002. He is the author of several books, including “Gerbe d’Espérance” (1992), “En Quête de Lumière” (1992), “Bri Lan Nwit” (2000) and “Étensèl Mo’m Yo” (2006). Most of his poems can be found in several anthologies. In 2004, the mayor of the city of Miami, Alex Penelas, gave an “Award of Recognition” to André for his contributions to the cultural landscape of the city. André Fouad has been a staff writer for The Haitian Voice since 2006.
